The 3 'I's (Intent, Implementation, Impact) and Maths policy

This document defines our vision for Maths: what we intend for our children to know (substantive knowledge of number and calculation), how we ensure teaching promotes mastery, fluency, and reasoning skills, and the positive impact this has on their confidence and long-term mathematical understanding.

Maths Long Term Plan

This plan details the specific units and domains covered in Maths throughout the academic year for every class (e.g., 'Place Value,' 'Fractions,' or 'Geometry'). It ensures comprehensive coverage of the National Curriculum, with sufficient time allocated for key concepts to be secured.

National Curriculum Maths

This link confirms that our Mathematics curriculum is fully compliant with the statutory requirements and ambitious aims of the National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2.

Whole School Calculation Policy.pdf

This document defines the vision for calculation fluency: what procedures and methods children must know for the four operations, how we ensure consistent, sequential teaching from concrete to abstract methods, and the positive impact this has on pupils' mathematical understanding, communication, and confidence.

Essential Mathematical Vocabulary

This document defines essential Mathematical vocabulary for pupils and parents to support learning.

Timestables Rockstar Day 2026

This year, NWP held a TimesTables Rockstars Day, transforming the practice of times tables into an engaging, purposeful, whole-school learning experience. Pupils from Years 2–6 took part in a range of timestable challenges, including TT Rock Stars: Battle of the Bands, where they applied rapid recall and accuracy to earn points for their class. Alongside this, pupils engaged in a range of fun activities such as times tables bingo, board games, composing times-tables songs, a best-dressed competition, and many more activities all designed to reinforce fluency, confidence, and automaticity in multiplication. Classrooms were alive with rock music and pupils learning and having fun. Throughout the day, pupils demonstrated enthusiasm, resilience, and genuine enjoyment in their learning. To celebrate their effort and commitment, pupils ended the day with a whole-school rockstar festival in the hall. Overall, the day was a great success, strengthening pupils’ times-tables fluency, supporting mathematical confidence, and embedding the message that regular practice is both valuable and enjoyable.
