This document defines our vision for French: what we intend for our children to know (vocabulary and grammar), how we ensure teaching promotes listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, and the positive impact this has on their cultural awareness and communication abilities.

 

Progression of skills 

Our Progression Map clearly shows the step-by-step journey of learning from Year 3 to Year 6. It ensures that vocabulary, phonics, and grammatical structures are taught in a logical sequence, enabling pupils to build confidence and communicate increasingly complex ideas.
 

 

Long Term Plan 
This plan details the specific thematic units covered in French throughout the academic year for every class (e.g., 'Greetings and Numbers,' 'Food,' or 'Family'). It ensures comprehensive coverage of National Curriculum requirements.
