Art

The 3 I's (Intent, Implementation and Impact) and Art policy
This document defines our vision for Art: what we intend for our children to learn about creativity, visual communication, and artistic expression, how we teach and model key techniques, and the positive impact this has on their confidence, cultural understanding, and ability to think critically.

Progression of skills
Our progression of skills  clearly shows the step-by-step journey of learning from Year 1 to Year 6 across core artistic skills (Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, and Digital/Applied Arts). It ensures that key knowledge and techniques are introduced in a sequenced way and built upon year-on-year to support mastery.

Long Term Plan
This plan details the specific units, skills and mediums covered in Art throughout the academic year for every class (e.g., ‘Portrait Drawing,’ ‘Clay Sculpture,’ ‘Textiles,’ or ‘Landscape Painting’). It ensures full coverage of the National Curriculum requirements for Art and Design.

National Curriculum Art and Design
This link confirms that our Art curriculum is fully aligned with the statutory expectations and aims of the National Curriculum for Art and Design, including the development of technical skills, critical evaluation, and knowledge of significant artists, craftspeople, and designers.

Design & Technology

The 3 I's (Intent, Implementation and Impact) and DT policy
This document defines our vision for Design & Technology: what we intend for our children to learn about practical problem-solving, creative design, and technical innovation, how we teach the iterative design process, and the positive impact this has on their resilience, independence, and ability to design purposeful, functional products.

Progression of skills
Our progression of skills document  clearly shows the step-by-step journey of learning from Year 1 to Year 6 across key strands (Designing, Making, Evaluating, and Technical Knowledge). It ensures that core skills develop progressively over time and that children build upon prior learning to apply increasing precision and control.

Long Term Plan

This plan details the specific units, materials, and projects covered in Design & Technology throughout the academic year for every class (e.g., ‘Mechanisms,’ ‘Textiles,’ ‘Food Technology,’ or ‘Structures’). It ensures full coverage of National Curriculum requirements and supports a balanced programme of designing, making, and evaluating.

National Curriculum

This link confirms that our Design & Technology curriculum aligns with the statutory aims of the National Curriculum, including the expectation that pupils design and make products for real users, apply technical knowledge, and evaluate existing and their own work to improve outcomes.
