Miss Birchall comments on Ofsted report:
"I hope that you are as pleased as myself, staff and governors that we continue to be a “good” school.
Everyone in the school community works hard to ensure that the children get the best education and guidance.
You work hard to successfully create a warm and caring atmosphere……..
The quality of teaching has improved and all pupils make good or better progress………
There is a strong culture of safeguarding in the school.” Ofsted January 2018.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support in sending your children and working with the school.
Yours sincerely,
Miss V Birchall
Headteacher.

What you think we could improve upon…… | How we are acting on your suggestions…. |
Identify earlier that children need extra help | We assess and monitor children's progress in many ways and on a regular basis throughout their time at school. If any parents have any concerns about their child's progress, or if you believe they need extra help then please speak to the class teacher. |
Understanding how parents can help children progress individually and knowing where they need more help | Staff are always available for brief discussions before and after school and if more detailed conversations are needed then please make an appointment to meet with the class teacher through the office. Also, individual progress is discussed at parents evenings and if you have any specific concerns you are invited to make arrangements to meet with the class teacher |
After school clubs for all age ranges | We offer a wide range of extra-curricular (lunch time and after school activities from traditional Football and Rugby to multi sports, fencing, cricket and non sporting events such as Glee Club and Let’s Get cooking. We have more recently introduced after school activities specifically for KS1 children. |
Less paper – more electronic communication eg Newsletters | We are mindful of the amount of information/instructions that we need to share with parents/carers. We are striving to minimise the amount paper that come home by increasing usage of Text messaging, social media (Facebook) We are looking to use more ‘push notification’ type messaging in the near future. |
Headlice | We understand that this is a distressing and upsetting problem and we regularly put notices on the Newsletter to ask parents to check their children’s hair and treat if necessary. We rely on the support of everyone to control this problem. However, apart from advice and notifying you there is little else we can do. If you wish to see the school nurse then please request this at the office. |
