Year 1 and 2 have had a fantastic day at the KS1 Leigh Games at Leigh Sports Village today. Year 1 competed in Archery and Year 2 competed in cricket. We have been practising these skills in our PE lessons and they have really paid off. Year 1 earned a certificate for the school which showed the most passion and Year 2 earned gold and silver medals and a trophy. Have a look at Year 1’s pictures below and pictures of Year 2 will be on our school Facebook page.
We were thrillled to see Leigh Centurion’s Jamie Acton at our school yesterday. He brought in the Challenge Cup to show us all and answered questions about his upcoming game against the Salford Red Devils this Friday. We all wish him and the mighty Centurions the best of luck.
Six children from year 5 and six children from year 6 took part in the Highland Games competition at Leigh Sports Village on Thursday afternoon. They had lots of fun competing against other schools in diffferent events from skipping to welly throwing! Please have a look at our pictures below …
Some children from Year 5 and 6 went to Golborne High School yesterday to take part in a basket ball tournament. Coby-Leigh from year 5 has written a report about the tournament:
‘Yesterday at the basketball tournament, we did a fantastic job representing our school. It was intense between a few teams but we enjoyed having the chance to play against other schools. We took part in this tournament to raise the profile of basketball as not many people play it in our country. We were very proud to finish 4th place.’
On Thursday evening, some children from Year 6 participated in a netball and football tournament at Westleigh High School. We showed determination and worked as a team throughout the tournament and had a fantastic time. Our netball team came 4th and our football team came 5th. Well done, Year 6!
KS2 were very excited to take part in School Fitness Week today with the Body Coach, Joe Wicks. We know it is important to do an hour of exercise everyday and with Joe’s help, we have already done half an hour of exercise today. We did lots of different exercises from star jumps to lunges and squats. We had a fantastic time! Take a look at our photos.
For the last 13 weeks, Year 3 have been taking part in a course with the school of military. The course has included building resilience, team building and learning mutual respect which has helped to promote British values within the class.
This week was the last week of the course and the children took part in their passing out parade where they each received a medal and a certificate. Parents were invited to watch and even took part in the assault course at the end. Well done, Year 3. Have a look at our pictures below.
This half term, Year 6 will be playing Crown Green bowls at Brunswick Park. We have been twice and are already playing better. We will take part in a tournament with another school at the end of the term. Click ‘Continue reading’ to see some pictures.
