In Year 4, our latest topic in Science is all about sound. We conducted multiple experiments to help us understand how we hear sound. We learned that sound is created through vibrations in the air.
We observed what happened to paper clips on a drum when we banged it and linked this to the vibrations that it created and the volume of the sound.
We also used a slinky to help us ‘see’ how sound waves travel. The children used different forces to see what happens to louder and quieter sounds and how sound waves reflect off objects when they hit them.
In our next science lesson we worked in small groups and produced presentations. We explained to the rest of class what we had learned about sound so far, using posters and demonstrations to display our new learning. Take a look below at our experiments and presentations.
