The Day the Crayons Quit!

In class this week, Year 2 have been reading the book ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ written by Drew Daywalt. This is about a set of overworked and unappreciated crayons who all write a letter to their owner Duncan about why they are unhappy. In our Big Write, we stepped into the role of Duncan and wrote a reply letter back to one of the crayons to explain his actions and to say sorry. We have had a big push on our handwriting and presentation this week too and this has shown in our written work along with some brilliant content. Well done Owls! Easter Baking!

This week in Year 4, we have been baking all kinds of treats to celebrate the Easter Holidays! We split our class into three groups and made three distinct desserts to suit anyone’s palate. Our first  group made Mini Egg chocolate bark! We smashed some Mini Eggs into tiny pieces with a rolling pin and spread them on a baking tray for a bottom layer crunch. Then we spread melted chocolate over the top of the Mini Eggs before adding another layer of Mini Eggs on top. We then put it in the fridge to set!

Next we made Easter Nest Cakes and made mini egg cupcakes. We did this by following a simple cup cake recipe and then added chocolate Rice Krispies and cornflakes to make a nest and topped with mini eggs. Please take a look at the photos below.
