In class this week, Year 2 have been reading the book ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ written by Drew Daywalt. This is about a set of overworked and unappreciated crayons who all write a letter to their owner Duncan about why they are unhappy. In our Big Write, we stepped into the role of Duncan and wrote a reply letter back to one of the crayons to explain his actions and to say sorry. We have had a big push on our handwriting and presentation this week too and this has shown in our written work along with some brilliant content. Well done Owls! This last half term we have had lots of fun exploring and learning our dinosaur topic. We found out lots of interesting facts and made dinosaur eggs and dinosaur teeth. We also had fun celebrating Easter and making Easter Krispy cakes. We are looking forward to learning all about a new topic after Easter. Have a lovely Easter everyone!!
It has been a great last week for year 5. We have all learned how to convert improper fractions and mixed numbers and multiply fractions by whole numbers. We have written some fantastic descriptions of being on a roller coaster. We visited a theme park (the immersion room) and had a ride on a roller coaster.
Year 6 have been working especially hard in preparation for their SATs in May. Some children even stay after school for extra maths help!
This week in Year 4, we have been baking all kinds of treats to celebrate the Easter Holidays! We split our class into three groups and made three distinct desserts to suit anyone’s palate. Our first group made Mini Egg chocolate bark! We smashed some Mini Eggs into tiny pieces with a rolling pin and spread them on a baking tray for a bottom layer crunch. Then we spread melted chocolate over the top of the Mini Eggs before adding another layer of Mini Eggs on top. We then put it in the fridge to set!
Next we made Easter Nest Cakes and made mini egg cupcakes. We did this by following a simple cup cake recipe and then added chocolate Rice Krispies and cornflakes to make a nest and topped with mini eggs. Please take a look at the photos below.
Year 1 have been improving their sentences today. They spotted words that need capital letters in sentences and they learned about joining words such as ‘and’. 😀
Kingfishers have enjoyed a really busy week. They have learnt more in Science through the story of The Three Little Pigs. They have investigated materials and wrote about why the brick house didn’t fall down. 😀
Year 3 have been participating in School of Military. This week, we have been working as a team to build shelters to see if they are waterproof. To test this, Sam chucked buckets of water at our shelters while we were under them, some were a little waterproof but most of us just got wet! Have a look at our pictures!
