Welcome to our Robins section of the school’s website.

We have 30 little Robins in our Reception class. Our team consists of; Mrs. Devine our class teacher, Miss. Joanne our HLTA, and Miss. Clare & Miss. Louise our Teaching Assistants.

Our Robins class is a very exciting year for all your children as they begin their learning journey with us at Newton Westpark Primary School. Our expert Reception class team work closely with your children to support learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Under the EYFS, children develop the foundation skills and knowledge that will help them to thrive as they move forward the following year into Year One, where teaching and learning follows the National Curriculum.

To support your child’s learning at home, Literacy, Maths and Spellings homework will be sent home weekly. This will reflect the learning covered in class for that week, so will help to reinforce this learning. Additionally, reading books will be sent home daily and we encourage you to read at least three times a week with your child. On achieving this target, rewards will be given, so please ensure you sign/initial reading records as this provides evidence of time spent reading at home.

More information about the EYFS, homework release/hand in dates, and your child’s first term with us, please read in this term’s Robins' newsletter. This can be found by clicking on the link below.

Thank you for visiting the Robins information page,
Mrs. Devine and the Robins Team.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Please continue to hear your child read regularly at home. A brief comment in your child’s reading diary to indicate when a book has been read would be appreciated. Ask questions about what they have read to ensure that they have understood the text.
A spelling list will be sent home every Monday, this is to be kept at home and practised each night, ready for a spelling test on Friday.
The Magic Moments book will be sent out on a Friday so you can tell us about the learning that is taking place outside of school.
